Whitsun Voice Camp
Information
FRI 23rd May – TUES 27th May 2025
A camp for singers and their families on a beautiful field at Bonhays Retreat Centre, Whitchurch Canonicorum in Dorset, two miles from the sea.
Workshops start Friday evening and end Monday evening.
We will learn all sorts of songs together: Harmonic Temple, songs from Taizé, short songs from around the world and longer performance songs.
These are the teachers:
Dee Jarlett, Ali Orbaum, Pete Linnett, Claire Anstee, Fiona Funnell, Nickomo & Rasullah Clarke, Bruce & Rebecca Knight
We are providing a holiday that is a green alternative to flying abroad. This camp offers the experience of joyful companionship and aims to be an uplifting holistic event. If you are a supporting family member rather than a singer, there’s plenty for you too with camping circle friendships, beautiful walks and the sea nearby.
Adults £170* /Children (5-18) £60
* if pre-booked; or £190 if you just turn up at the gate!
People are encouraged to camp in circles and cook evening meals together, firewood is provided. We ask for individual responsibility and sensitivity regarding noise, alcohol, use of mobiles and the cooking of meat. The camp takes place in a beautiful field among rolling Dorset hills, it has water-points, willow-toilets and a shower. There is a large marquee for the choir meetings, a marquee for children’s activities and a café offering soup for lunch and cakes and drinks through the day. Children are welcome to join in with the singing, alternative activities will also be provided for over 5s during daytime workshops, there will be teens and tweens singing sessions, an early evening storytime, a cabaret (do prepare an act!) and a market.
